Werner Lichtenfels Werner Lichenfels, 62, of Kingsport, Tenn., formerly of Asheville,' died unexpectedly Wednesday in Kingsport. A native of Germany, Mr, Lichtenfels came to Asheville in 1937. Owner of Kingsport Iron and Metal Co., he became a naturalized American citizen in 1942 and had received numerous awards for his work in assisting new immigrants in the study of English and American History. He received the first Liberty Bell ,Award from the Kingsport Bar Association. In addition to numerous civic organizations, he was a member of Congregation Nal Sholm, Survivors include a brother, Alfred Lichtenfels, Asheville businessman; his widow, three daughters and a grandson. Services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Friday in Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Chapel in Kingsport. Burial will be there. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contrioutions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Fund.
