of Tampa, Fla. and John E. of Mt. Clemens, two daughters, Mrs. Christopher Eskeen of Atlanta and Mrs.

Ronald Milburn of Jackson, the mother, Mrs. Kitty Baumgardner and a sister, Miss Leah Baumgardner of Baltimore; and five grandchildren. Services and burial will be in Sarasota under direction of Robarts Funeral Home. Murder-Suicide Attempt Seen In Watauga BOONE, N.C. (AP) An elderly man and his daughter were hospitalized in Boone Thursday in critical condition after in what Watauga County Sheriff Ward Carroll described as an attempted murder and suicide.

The sheriff said preliminary investigation indicated that Hale Crevasse, 89, shot his daughter, Virginia Willie Crevasse, 56, with a pistol, and then attempted to take his own life with a knife and sleeping pills. Carroll said the incident occurred about 4 p.m. at the Crevasse home in the Foscoe community seven miles south of Boone. The two were taken to Watauga County Hospital in Boone. The sheriff said his department and an agent of the State of Investigation were investigating.

Hilda Rogers Mrs. Hilda Barron Rogers, 47, of 1800 Old Haywood Road, died Thursday evening, in an Asheville hospital after a brief illness.

W. Self, Roosevelt Vinson, Julius Johnson and Javan Evans. Mr. Sears, a resident of Asheville since 1924, was a son of the late Rev. Edward and Mrs.

Cora Sears. He was a native of Winton, N. moved to Newport News, Va. at an early age and received his education in the public schools of Virginia. He engaged in business there for a number of years.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mattie M. Sears; four sisters, Mrs. Althatha Mullin and Mrs. Sarena Cofield of Goldsboro, Mrs.

Albina Hall of Winton and Mrs. Katy Zachary of Greensboro; a sister in law, Mrs. Charles Sears of Philadelphia; a brother, Warren Sears of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p. m.

Saturday at Wilkins Mortuary, where the body will remain until the service hour. Kingsport, formerly of Asheville, died unexpectedly Wednesday in Kingsport. A native of Germany, Mr. Lichtenfels came to Asheville in 1937. Owner of Kingsport Iron and Metal he became a naturalized American citizen in 1942 and had received numerous awards for his work in assisting new immigrants in the study of English and American History.

He received the first Liberty Bell Award from the Kingsport Bar Association. In addition to numerous civic organizations, he was a member of Congregation Nai Sholm, Survivors include a brother, Alfred Lichtenfels, Asheville businessman; his widow, three daughters and a grandson. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Chapel in Kingsport. Burial will be there.

Mitchell 54, of 175 Marlborough Road, Lakeview Park, died at 3:40 p. m. Thursday in an Asheville hospital after a short illness. She was a member of Junior League of Asheville, the Children's Welfare League and the Muses. She was a graduate of St.

Genevieve Junior College, attended Duke University and served as secretary for the United Fund in Asheville for seven years. At the time of her death, she was executive secretary of the Asheville Community Concert Association, was assistant of the TriHospitals Growth Fund sistant treasurer of the YMCA.
