D. S. Johnson BURNSVILLE Rosa Woody Johnson, 79, of Brush Creek community of Greenmountain, died Sunday in an Asheville hospital after a short illness. native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Theopolis and Cumi Riddle Woody and was the wife of Desoto S. Johnson, who died in 1974.

Surviving are two sons, D. S. Johnson Jr. of Greenmountain and Truett Johnson of North Augusta, S. four daughters, Doris ay Robinson and Beatrice Snyder of Asheville, Mrs.

Enzy Letterman of Greenmountain and Mrs. Tom Lewis of Memphis. 24 grandchildren and 14 -grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, of which she was a member, The Revs.

Gary Burt and Arthur Woody will officiate. Burial will be in Woody Family family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church an hour before the services. H.

Miles Stella Masters Miles, 67, of 7 Stratford Road died Sunday in ah Asheville hospital, after long illness. Graveside services will be bield 3 p.m. Wednesday in Lewis Memorial Park. The Rev. Robert E.

Lair will officiate. Memorials may be made to. the American Cancer Society. Morris Funeral Home is in charge. Woodrow Higgins, 59, of 26 Annandale died Monday in an Asheville rehabilitation center after a short Illness.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace McAdams, 28 Taft St. Allen and Associates Mortuary will announce arrangements. P.

Matthews John Patterson Matthews, 78, of Riceville Road, died unexpectedly Monday en route to an Asheville hospital. Williams Funeral Service is in charge. Mrs. Louis Rice Sr. Queen Esther Haynes Rice of 81 Ora wife of Louis Rice died unexpectedly Monday at her home.

Hart Mortuary is in charge. Mrs. McCollough Myrtle Lee Buntin McCollough, 75, of 3 Charlotton died this morning at her home after period of declining health. A native of Dawson Springs, and a resident of Morganfield, Ky. most of her life, she had Lived in Asheville for five years.

The wife of Charles T. McCollough who died in 1967, she was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Gene of Sturgis, Richard of Compton, and Dr. Charles T. McCollough Jr.

of Asheville; a brother, Luther Buntin of Sarasota, eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p. m. Wednesday at the home. Memorials made to the American Diabetic Association, 408 N.

Tryon Charlotte, N.C., 28202. Services and burial will be in Morganfield, Ky. Morris Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Mrs. Edwards Hazel Virginia Edwards, 57, of Buckeye Cove, Swannanoa, died Monday in an Asheville hospital after a long illness.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, Black Mountain. Irwin Monk, Attorney, Dies At 81 Irwin Monk of 502 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville attorney and former chairman of the Buncombe County Selective Service Board, died Monday in an Asheville hospital after a short illness. He was 81. Monk was a former member of the Buncombe County Board of Elections and had served as president of the 28th Judicial District Bar Association.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Service. $100,000 Approved For Airport The North Carolina Aeronautics Council voted today to allocate $100,000 in state funds to Asheville for its airport runway extension project. The city had originally asked for $102,900, but an allocation ceiling of $100,000 had been established by the Division of Aeronautics earlier this year, said Will Plentl, director of the division. The remaining $2,900 will be considered in 1979, he said.

The decision on the funding was made at the morning meeting held in Raleigh. Council To Meet South, French Broad Junior High School's Title I Parent Advisory Council will meet at 9. a.m. Wednesday in the reading room at the school. Parents who transportation may call Vivian Ridley at 255-5318 before 9 a.m.

Creed Robinson BURNSVILLE Services for Creed Robinson, 58, of Burnsville, who died Sunday, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Bowman Funeral Home, Marshall. The Rev. Gene Riddle will officiate. Burial will be in Cane River Cemetery.

A native and lifelong resident of Yancey County, he was a son of the late William and Bertha McFalls Robinson. He was a farmer and was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Dockery Robinson; four sons, Ronald Robinson of Oteen, John B. Robinson of Detroit, and Coy Lee and Troy C. Robinson of Burnsville; two daughters, Regina Hollifield and Patsy Murray of Oteen; four brothers, Raymond and Dallas Robinson of Burnsville, McKinley Robinson of Canton and Coy Robinson of Detroit; four sisters, Lula Bell Stiles, Martha Cooper, Dorothy Wheeler and Geraldine Robinson of Burnsville; and 13 grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Cline Carr of Asheville; four daughters, Welza Stewart and Macy Mintz of Asheville, Elsie Jones of Old Fort and Altha Godfery of Burnsville; 25 grandchildren, 64 great and several great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m.

Wednesday in Church of God of Prophecy on Leicester Highway, of which she was a member. The Rev. V. B. Riggins will officiate.

Guy Robinson Guy Vernon Robinson, 77, of 63 Coleman died Monday in an Asheville hospital after a long illness, A native of Madison County and a resident of Buncombe County since 1936, he was member of Paint Fork Baptist Church. A retired salesman, he was a son of the late Bascombe and Etta Ray Robinson. Surviving are a son, Robert B.

Robinson of Candler; two daughters, Mrs. L. G. Robertson of Newport News, and Mrs. Edward K.

Bennett of Knoxville, four brothers, Fred Robinson of Mars Hill, Burgin Robinson of Asheville, Raleigh Robinson of Leicester and Leonard Robinson of Candier; four sisters, Pansy Norton of Bristol, Vernie Riddle of Asheville, Vera Bradley of Newport News and Mamie Banks of Burnsville; four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Hodges Dies; Retired Minister Dr. Bob S. Hodges, 80, of A-1 Highland Farm Retirement Center, Black Mountain, retired Presbyterian minister, died Sunday in Highland Farms nursing home after a long illness. Dr. Hodges had pastored several churches in the south, including First Presbyterian Church of Rogersville, and First Presbyterian Church in Union, S.

C. In 1949, he. became associate secretary of the General Council of the Presbyterian Church, U. S. in Atlanta, where he served until his retirement in 1964.: He received an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Presbyterian College in Clinton, 'S: and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia and Columbia Thelogical Seminary.

A native of Coronaca, S. he was a son of the late Fletcher D. and Jessie Aiken Hodges. His wife, Bessie E. Hodges, died in 1974.

Since his retirement, he had made his home in Black Mountain. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William Kryder of Anniston, a son, Dr. Bob S. Hodges Ill of Richmond, two sisters, Mrs.

W. G. Harper of Niceville, and Mrs. W. 4.

Duggan of Crestview, and two Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Black Mountain First Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Richard Shelor will officiate. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
