DONALD "DONNIE" BOYER CROTTY ARDEN On July 21, 2011 the Crotty family, TCR family and many residents of the Arden and Asheville community lost a very well loved young man. Donnie was born August 6th, 1995 in Asheville and attended TC Roberson High School, as a rising Junior. Donnie was only 15 years old when he lost his life due to an accident while volunteering at the TCR Youth Football Camp. Donnie sustained severe injuries to his brain and heart which later caused his death.

When word spread of the incident the local community opened their arms with love and many prayers for the family. Donnie was the kindest and most loving amoung young men. His older sister, Samantha, said many times, "He was always the comic relief in an situation and he gave the best hugs." Our hearts are broken and the only relief that we can find is that our sweet boy is up in heaven wearing golden wings and watching over us. He will now be healed and have no scars. He is perfect.

Donnie is survived by his mother, Susie Grotty (Candler), his father, Donald R. Grotty, Jr. (Fort Lauderdale), his stepfather, Honorable Edwin Clontz (Candler), his sister, Samantha L. Crotty (Atanta), his grandparents, Jeanne and Jim Bucher (Swannanoa) and Constance Crotty (Fort MARY WATSON OWENBY BREVARD Mary Wat- son Owenby, 82, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Oaks of Brevard. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Hannah Fox Watson and was the wife of the late Bill Owenby.

Mrs. Owenby was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Gayle Metcalf and husband David of Decatur, AL; brothers, Bedford Watson and wife Marie of Pisgah Forest, and Lawrence Watson and wife Evelyn of Pisgah Forest; grandchildren, Spencer Metcalf and Tracy Strickland; greatgrandchildren, Justin Wales and Skye Strickland; a number of nieces and nephews. The graveside service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, July 25, 2011 at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Madden officiating.

AARON J. CALDWELL WOODFIN Aaron J. Caldwell, age 62, of Woodfin went to his Heavenly home Thursday July 21, 2011. Mr. Caldwell was born August 10, 1948, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life.

He formerly worked at Ingles and Lowe's and attended Macedonia Baptist Church. His parents, Calvin and Josie Marie Plemmons Caldwell, preceded him in death. He was a loving husband, father and papaw and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julia Robinson Caldwell; daughter, Michelle Shook and husband Scott of Asheville; stepson, Tracy Allen of Helena, brother, Edwin Caldwell and wife Nancy of Enka; two wonderful grandchildren, Matthew and Madilyn Shook; and lots of extended family and friends. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 25, 2011, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Weaverville, with Rev. Charles Phillips DIANA GAIL YOUNG NEWLAND Diana Young, 63, of Cow Camp Road, Newland, N.C., won her long battle with debilitating and devastating illness on July 19, 2011, while in Roan Highlands Nursing Center.

Born to Gloria W. and James Philip Young, Diana was part of two strong families, deeply rooted in the mountains of North Carolina, the Wiseman's of Altamont, and Young's of Spruce Pine. Although her heritage was of the mountains, Diana lived her early years i in coastal areas; hence, she harbored a love of the sea shore all of her life. Diana, by her own account, had a rich, diverse, and wonderful life. She loved She loved hard work also.

Her talents And skills are too numerous to list. Anything that she engaged in, personally and professionally, merited countless hours of research, study, and practice. Horticulture was a special talent and love. "Growing things" became her passion. Her home in Linville Falls, and, more recently, in Newland, are visual hallmarks of this gift.

There were few things that Diana did not enjoy doing. She love all music genres, literature, animals, good food, current events, politics, and conversation. officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

She leaves her daughter, Leslie Phillips; sister, Vicki Caraway and brotherin-law, Kenny Caraway, nephew, Ben Wise and his companion, Jennifer Stout, and niece, Joleta Wise. She also leaves a large and wonderfully supportive Young family. Of special significance in Diana's life, through years of good times and difficult times, are her best friends, Tobie Ledford, Mary Calloway, and Ann McClain, as well as her adopted brother and sister, Roger and Donna Wise; her cousins, Elizabeth Poteat, Sabra Passman, Betsy Troncelliti, and her most special aunt, Kathleen Troncelliti. She felt privileged to have many deep and lasting friendships with people she knew for many years, and some who had come into her life only recently. ACelebration of Life gathering in memory of Diana will take place on Sunday, July 31, at 2 p.m., at Fletcher Presbyterian Church.

The church is located on Cow Camp Road, Newland, N.C. We invite all who knew Diana to participate with us in celebrating her life. Born December 9, 1924, in Clarksburg, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Cass Lilly. She graduated with a BA in English from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, CH in 1947 where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Mrs.

Newcomb married Alan Harrison Newcomb on June 25, 1947. She was predeceased by her husband who died October 21, 1966. At the time of his death, he was the Director of Public Affairs at WBTV in Charlotte, NC. In addition to her parents Jeanne was also predeceased by her brother, Dr. John Stuart Lilly.

Jeanne has been a resident of Charlotte since 1953. She taught preschool at Carmel Presbyterian Church and worked at the Methodist Counseling Center in Charlotte for fifteen years. A long time member of First United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday school class and also taught various Sunday school classes. She was a dedicated member of United Methodist Women, served as circle chair of the Lydia Circle, coordinated the Widows Support Group and worked tirelessly to help establish support systems for aging members. She will probably be best remembered for her humor and sense of fun, for her love of children, and for her commitment to reach out to those in need.

She served joyfully. Jeanne is survived by her son, Robert Thomas Newcomb and his wife, Linda of Charlotte, NC; her daughter, Nancy Newcomb Peterson and her husband, John of Apple Valley, MN; her brother, Dr. Ed Lilly and his wife, Charlene of Panama City, FL; three grandchildren, Alan Newcomb of Asheville, NC, Scott Peterson of New York City and Laura Peterson of Madison, WI; a number of nephews and nieces and a dearly cherished great grandson, Rowan. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving and compassionate care Jeanne received from the entire staff at Carriage Club of Charlotte and the 7th floor tower at Carolinas Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Charlotte followed by a graveside service in Evergreen Cemetery.
