In order to develop the fulfilling trick for his six heart contract, he literally donated a trick in the trump suit to the West chose to adopt a neutral course by opening a heart and South won the trick in his hand with the nine. There were 11 top tricks available five hearts, four spades, one diamond, and one club.

A 12th trick might be established in clubs by ruffing out North's' suit, provided clubs divide evenly, however, the dummv lacks the necessary entries. Presently declarer spotted a way to compensate for communications problem. A club was led to the ace and a small club ruffed with the queen of hearts, A small heart was led to the jack and when both opponents followed, the ten of hearts was permitted to remain out-' standing. Another club was trumped and dummy reentered with the jack of spades to ruff away West's king of clubs with the ace of hearts, South's remaining trump, even tho this play established East's ten of hearts as the master card in the suit. South now began to run his spades, slutting away dummy's diamonds.

East ruffed in on the third round and returned a diamond. Declarer put up the ace, discarded North's remaining diamond on the fourth spade and-ruffed a diamond with dummy's six of hearts. The jack of clubs took the last trick. Altho declarer deliberately built up a trump trick for his opponents, by so doing, he-gained two' tricks in return. The heart trick came back because he was able to trump three of dummy's clubs and still score the K-J-6 of hearts.

The fulfilling trick was obtained by establishing North's long club, and the dummy reversal eventually provided extra entry to dummy. 788 members of Asheville chapter ot Ikebana International.
