Term died Saturday in a Fayetteville hospital after an extended illness. The body is being returned to Marshall for services and burial under the direction of Bowman Funeral Home. 5 a. CANTON Harold Moffitt, 71, of Crabtree Road, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home. A native of Buncombe County and a resident of Canton most of his life, he was the son of the late George L.

and Maltie C. Young Moffitt He was a retired sergeant with the Canton Police Department where he had been employed for 36 years. Mr Moffitt was appointed to serve five terms as Sargeant of Anns of the North Carolina Senate. He was past master of the Pigeon River Lodge No. 386 AF Si AM.

He was a past patron of Oak Leaf Chapter No. 81 Order of the Eastern Star and was past district deputy patron of the OES. He was a member of the Sootush and York Rite Bodies and was a KCCH. He was also a Shnner and member of the Oasis Temple. He was a member of the Western North Carolina Regional Air Pollution Board and was a member of the board of directors of the Southwest Region of the Law Enforcement Agency Surv iving are the widow.

Mrs. Bessie Willis Moffitt. a sister. Mrs. Opal Johnson of Asheville; and a number of nieces and nephews Services will be held at 2 m.

Monday in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The Rev. Keys Pendleton will officiate. Bunal will be in the Plains Cemetery. Masonic ntes will be conducted at the grave by members of Pigeon River Lodge No 386 AF it AM.

3 Mars HiU. died Saturday in an Asheville hospital after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was a retired farmer He was the son of the late Garrett and Nancy Willis Cody. Surviving are three daughters. Mrs.

Shirley Willis and Mrs. Wanda Ramsev of Mars Hill and Mrs. Cleva Holcombe of Arden; two sons. Clarence and Ernest Cody of Mars Hill: two sisters. Mrs.

Elzie Slagle of Mars HiU and Mrs. Liza Buckner of Swiss: 14 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Upper Laurel Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Revs.

She was the widow of J. Millard Shook, who died in October. 1970 She was a former employe of the Brouks-Howell Home. Surviving are a daughter. Mrs Mary Linda Teague of Cutler.

Ohio: a son. Robert Shook of Clyde; two sisters. Mrs. Wade Brown of Bronston. and Mrs.

Annie Mae Holbert of Swannanoa; two brothers. Clyde Peek of Delmar, and Cleonard Peek of Hemet. and four grandchildren. The body will remain at Grace Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 minutes before the services. Mrs.

E. Crawford Mrs. Elizabeth Sorrells Crawford of 36 Garden Circle. Asheville. died Friday in an Asheville hospital following an extended illness.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Pauline Sorrells. Surviving are a son. James D. Crawford of Asheville; two sisters. Mrs.

Evelyn Houser of Asheville and Mrs. Earline Efird of Kensington. and two brothers. Clayton and Bud Sorrells of Asheville. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m.

Matteson. S3, of 19 Spruce St died unexpectedly Friday at his home A native of Carbondale. Pa and a resident of Canton for 61 years, he was the son of the late George W. and Nora B. Hotch-kiss Matteson He was a retired employe of Champion Papers with 43 years of service and was a member of Canton Wesleyan Methodist Church Surviving are two daughters.

John Uuliose Mrs. Delia Elizabeth Steele DuBose, 70. of Averv Creek Road. Rt. 1 Ardeh.

died Saturday in an Asheville hospital after a long illness. Mrs. DuBose was a native of Summemlle. C. and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Nesmith Steele.

Mrs. DuBose had lived in Asheville since the late 1920s and was a member of the Asheville Garden Club and was an accredited judge of the Mountain Flower Judges Club. She was also a member of the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild and was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. Surviving are the husband. M.

John DuBose; two sons. Barron M. DuBose of Asheville and Dr. David S. DuBose of Marlon; three daughters.

Grice of 54 Pinehurst Road, supervisor of the Asheville Alcoholic Beverage Control system, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home Grice was appointed ABC supervisor in 1973 following a heated debate over his former position of administrative chairman of the ABC Board and as supervisor of ABC stores here. He was a native of Alabama and a resident of Asheville since 1921 Grice had supervised the Asheville ABC svstem since 1957. Prior to assuming his post, he served as a tax appraiser with the Buncombe County Board of Tax Supervision He also was employed as manager of the city water department and worked in the city tax office for several years before joining the county staff as tax appraiser. Williams Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
