State University, has been commissioned a U.S. Air Force second lieutenant and will attend undergraduate pilot training at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona in February. Thomas Stephen Mosher of Swannanoa recently received a bachelor's degree from Maryville College in Knoxville, Tenn.

Furman Grads Announced The 1989 Furman University graduates included two local students. Catherine Courtenay Laughlin and Elizabeth Hampton, both of Asheville, received bachelor's degrees. Faculty Notes Kenneth Luke Cook, a teacher at North Buncombe Middle School will attend the summer institute at the Center for Civic Education in Calabasas, in July and August. Some 30 educators will study selected literature associated with the development of the U.S. Constitution.
