Goode, a lifelong resident of Henderson County, was a son of the late Gale and Sadie Holden Goode. He retired from Southern Railway and attended Mount Gilead Baptist Church. An Army veteran of World James Jarrett MORGANTON James John Jarrett, 69, of Morganton, died Friday In a Lincoln County hospital. Jarrett retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Co. and was a son of the late James E.

Jarrett and Esther Watts Jarrett. Surviving are two daughters, Annie Watts and Judy Mallonee of Morganton; a brother, Oliver Jarrett of Morganton; two sisters, Elizabeth Farns of Morganton and Esther House of Thomasville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Methodist Church. The Rev.

J.W. Stiles wiU officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Kirksey Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 minutes before the Naomi Williams BAKERSVILLE Naomi Mur-dock Williams, 68, of 1000 West Butner, died Saturday in a Durham hospital. Mrs.

Williams, a former resident of Mitchell County, was a daughter of the late John and Florence Hoyle unlock. Surviving are her husband, Howard Williams; a daughter, Patsy Grindle of Butner; five sons, H.L. and Donald Williams, both of Butner, Johnny Williams of Memphis, Danny Williams of Texas and the Rev. Roger Williams of Kerners-ville; four sisters, Mabel Murdock and Margaret Silver, both of Bakers-ville, Frona Carroll of Butner and Mary Bell Bamett of Maryland; eight brothers, the Rev. Homer Murdock of Flint, Ed, Lonas, Walter, Virgil, and Ollen Murdock, all of Bakersville, Jeter Murdock of Henderson and John Murdock of llendersonville; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Lily Branch Baptist Church. The Revs. Jim Jones and Marvin Greenway will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Webb Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the services. Joseph's Hospital. Odessa Gibba WAYNESVILLE Odessa Speller Gibbs of 213 Bellview Road died Saturday in a Haywood County hospital. A native of Anderson County, S.C., her parents were the late Rev. Dorsey and Aurilla Leak Speller. Surviving are six sons, William R.

Gibbs Jr. of Jacksonville, Charles C. Gibbs of Fayetteville, Milliard, Doyle and Phillip E. Gibbs, all of Waynesville, and Stanley S. Gibbs of Swannanoa; four daughters, Agnes G.

Bryson and Carolyn M. Gibbs, both of Waynesville, and Aure-lia G. McAdams and Edwina G. Hall, both of Canton; a brother, Dorsey Speller of Brooklyn, N.Y., 41 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m.

Tuesday in Jones Temple AME Zion Church in Waynesville, where she was a member. The Revs. Edward Griffith and Leroy Staley will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville The family will receive iriends at the home of Agnes Bryson, 213 Bellview Road. The body will remain at Jesse Ray Funeral Home, Asheville, until placed in the church an hour before the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jones Temple AME Zion Church building fund. tal. A native of Madison County, she had lived the past 20 years in Washington, D.C., and Knox-ville, Tenn. She was a daughter of the late C. Bascombe Swann and Alethia Higgins Swann and her stepmother was the late MRS.

RAY Carrie Grindstaff Swann. She was the wife of the late John Ray. She was a member of Washington Presbyterian Church in Knoxvuie. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Hoffman of the home; a son, C.L. Yelton of Mars Hill; two sisters, Hazel L.

Swann of Raleigh and Ruth S. Lyrely of Charlotte; and four grandchildren. Services will be at II a.m. Monday in the chapel of Capps Funeral Home. The Rev.

Joe Sprinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and at other times, will be at the residence. Raymond Young MARS HILL Raymond Young, 82, of Route 2 Mars Hill, died Saturday in an Asheville hospital.

Young was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a retired farmer. He was the son of the late Luke Greene and Viola Carter Young. Surviving are his wife, Bessie Metcalf Young; two sons, Lloyd Young of Erwin, and J.C. Young of Mars Hill; a daughter, Theda Iludgins of the home; two sisters, Lula Hunter of Mars Hill and Reva Edwards of Greenville, S.C.; ifive grandchildren and four grcat-igrandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m.

Monday in Middle Fork Baptist where he was a member and former deacon. The Revs. Gene HalL Joe Honeycutt and Edward lloyle will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Beatrice Leach MARION Beatrice McGee Leach, 70, of Route 1 Highway 70 died Friday at her residence. Mrs. Leach was a native of Mitchell County, a daughter of the late Alfonzo and Callie Hollifield McGee and wife of the late Fred Leach. She was a store clerk at Sky City.

Surviving are a son, J.C. White of Spruce Pine; a daughter, Shirley Ann Parsons of Fort Lauderdale, a stepson and a stepdaughter; two brothers, Frank McGee of Palat-ka, and William A. McGee of Nebo; three sisters, Georgia Evans of Burnsville, Sallie Arms of Clyde, Texas, and Jessie Lepel of Springfield, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Nebo Baptist Church, where she was a member.

The Revs. Raymond Whitfield and Cecil Lovelace will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at McCall-Kirksey Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the services.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he attended A.C.

Reynolds High School and was employed by Asheville Finishing Dyeing Plant. Surviving are his mother, Margaret Rogers Harris of Black Mountain; his father, Daniel Owenby of Asheville; a sister, Michele Owenby of Asheville; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Howard Rogers of Black Mountain; and the paternal grandmother, Eula Owenby of Asheville. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Blye Owen, 91, of the Wolf Mountain community, died Friday in a Sylva hospital. Owen, a lifelong resident of Jackson County, was a Baptist minister in Jackson and Transylvania counties for the past 60 years. Surviving are a son, Wallace Bernie Owen of Tuckasegee; a daughter, Essie Jane Galloway of Tuckasegee; two sisters, Perley McCall of Balsam Grove and Elvie Galloway of Brevard; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wolf Mountain Baptist Church, where he was a member.

The Revs. Wayne Iloxit, Truelt Owen, Newal Hoxit, Devon Owen and Carl McCall will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Mountain Cemetery. body has been placed in the residence to await the service hour. Moody Funeral Home, Sylva, is in charge of arrangements.

A'i'iia Kiser FRANKLIN Nina Gillespie Kiser, 85, of the Cartoogechaye community, died Saturday at her residence. Mrs. Kinser, a Macon County native, was the daughter of the late L.T. and Sarah Tallent Gillespie and the wife of J. Bun Kiser, who died February 1981.

She was a home-maker. Surviving are three daughters, Clara Shields, Kathryn Angel and Ada June Dowdle; a son, Julian Kiser; a brother, Ted Gillespie, all of Franklin; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Mount Hope Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Revs.

Dennis Patlon, W.K. Shields and Martin Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family wil receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the services.
