has announced a 25-stale recall of about 29,000 boxes of Frosted Mini- Wheals Biscuits cereal that may contain too much vitamin A and cause a burning sensation in the mouth. North Carolina is among the states included in the recall, the company said. The giant cereal maker also said Thursday it had withdrawn an unspecified number of boxes of Rice Krispies cereal at distribution points because they may contain ten times more iron than normal The levels of vitamin A found in 16-ounce and 20-ounce boxes of Frosted Mini-Wheats coded BC117 and BC118 with the expiration date of Aug. 2, 1989, may cause short-term discomfort such as a burning, tingling sensation in the mouth, but will not cause any major health risks, company spokesman Joe Stewart said. The levels of iron found in Rice Krispies with the code dates June 22-24, 1989, and the letter are at 100 percent of the U.S.

recommended daily allowance, but would not produce any health threat, Stewart said. The product normally contains 10 percent of the U.S. RDA of iron. In both cases, the cereals may not taste right, Stewart said. Stewart said he knew of three or four complaints to the company about the Frosted Mini-Wheats from Michigan consumers since Wednesday.

At least one consumer experienced a burning sensation after eating the cereal The Detroit district of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it had been advised of the recall and the withdrawal. Kellogg advised consumers with the affected Frosted Mini-Wheats not to eat any of the product and return the entire package top with the code dates to the company. In the case of the Rice Krispies, the company stopped distributing the affected product Aug. 10, but no consumer recall will be ordered, Stewart said.

He said any consumer dissatisfied with the product may follow the directions listed on the box for return of the product Other states affected by the recall of the Frosted Mini-Wheats are: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Surviving are three sons, Ray mond, Arnold, and Reeves Messer Whittier; two daughters, Gladys Davis and Gleana Allison of Whittier; 12 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and a great-greatgrandchild.
