Carter, P. Brown Mason was a daughter of the late Melissa Olney and Warren Botsford Mason of Malone, N. Y. From both sides of the family, she was a descendant of patriots, including George Mason, a signer of the Bill of Rights. For many years she lived Chicago, where she was member of the Centennial Baptist Church and secretary of the board of home missions.

died at 10 a. m. yesterday in an Asheville hospital following a brief illness. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Edneyville section. He was a member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church.

Surviving are one brother, John Justice of Edneyville, and a numof nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow at the Mountain Home Baptist Church. The Rev.

Buddy Mullinax, the Rev. Ed Summey and the Rev. Nathan Chapman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the home of a nephew, Claude Justice, at Edneyville, this afternoon.

She was a daughter of Roy T. Womack and the late Nannie Johnson Womack. Mr. and Mrs. Tallent had been married since Aug.

22, 1936. Mrs. Tallent was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and attended the church's Woman's Missionary Union meetings and Sunday school when her health permitted. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Franklin Baptist Church.

The Rev. M. W. Chapman, the pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Herman Mason, Milton Fouts, Dover Womack, D.

L. Clark, Delmis Clampett and Sam Tallent. Surviving in addition to the father and the husband are two sons, Rance and Wayne Tallent; two daughters, the Misses Robbie Gay and Brenda Tallent, all of home: Mrs. Helen Love of Charlotte. The body will be at the home until 10:30 a.m.

Florida Chipman Allison, 84, died at a hospital here early today following a brief illness. life-long resident. of Transyl- widow vania County, the of H. L. Allison.

Wood MURPHY, Dec. 27 Mrs. J. F. Wood, 75, died at 5:15 a.

Dec. 27-Mrs. Carrie Ada Tilley, 58. wife of Commodore S. Tilley, died at her home three miles east of here at 1:20 a.

m. yesterday following an illness of three months. She was a daughter the late W. S. and Amanda Burnette Roper and was a life-long resident of Macon County.

Mrs. Tilley was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church, its Woman's Missionary Union, and Dorcas Sunday School Class. She and Tilley, of Jackson County, had been married since 1914. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Franklin Church.

Rev. W. Chapman, the pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. W. N.

Cook. a retired Baptist minister. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hen. Sprinkle, George Roper, Burnette Gladwell, James L.

The body will be taken from the home to the church at 1 p.m. to lie in state for an hour prior to the services. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Miss Clara Nelms ROBBINSVILLE, Dec. 27-Miss Clara Nelms, 60, was found dead at 6 p.

m. in her home here today. Death was attributed to natural causes, Coroner J. D. Evans reported.

He said the examining physician reported Miss Nelms had been dead since Saturday night. She lived alone. "Miss Nelms was a daughter of the late Houston and Hester Nelms. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Della Crisp and Mrs.

Hodges will be the principal speaker at dedication ceremonies for a new hospital and admissions building at Morganton State Hospital. John W. Umstead chairman of the State Hospitals Board of Control, announced today the ded(ication ceremonies will be held Jan. 23. The $1,700,000 hospital project, which will add 260 beds and imMorganton hospital, facilities, finished treatment at the some six months ahead of schedule.

In order to the hospital in operation without delay, a transfer of some $99,000 was approved by the Budget Bureau. The Board of Control's executive committee will meet in Morganton the night of the dedication and the full board will meet the next day.
