First United Methodist Woodrow Shope, Franklin 11 a.m. Bryant GEORGE D. WHITE CANDLER George D. White, of Bailey Road, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997.

Mr. White was born Jan. 10, 1914, Buncombe County, where had in lived all of his life. He was formerly employed by White Transportation Services and Ethan Allen, Pine Valley Division. He was a veteran of World War Il having served in the U.S.

Navy. He was the son of the late Edward and Jean Colvin White and husband of the late Lena Shepherd White, who died in 1983. He was preceded in death by his son, George D. White Jr. Surviving are his daughter, Peggy W.

Carter and son-in-law, John W. Carter of Candler; brother, Bob White of Wilmington; grandchildren, Brian D. Carter, J. Wade Carter, Scott White and Kimberly White and great-grandson, Andrew Carter. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m.

Thursday in the chapel of West Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe R. Olachea and Randy Bray officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to TemBaptist Church, Building Fund, pie. Patton Asheville, N.C. 28806.

FANNIE BARNES SYLVA Fannie Stiles Barnes, 90, formerly of Kitchens Branch Road, Sylva, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at Harris Regional Hospital. "A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was a member of the Scotts Creek Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Mark and Candace Rogers Stiles and the wife of the late George Barnes. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Hester Robinson, Bonnie Rogers, Nora Stiles, Effie Robinson and Evelyn West and two brothers, Orville and Howard Bames.

She is survived by two sons, Brent Barnes of Sylva and George C. Barnes Burnsville; one daughter, Sharon Dittenberger of Edmonds, sister, Malita Wiggins Franklin; her brother, Grady Barnes of Sylva; six grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren also survive. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev.

Mike Moore. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Moody Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GLADYS MAE ESTEBAN WHITTIER Gladys Mae Esteban, 80, of 680 Whistler Point, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at Tsali Care Center. Melton-Riddle Funeral Home will announce arrangements. MARCELLA RUTH DANIELS ELK PARK Marcella Ruth Daniels, 77, of Elk Park, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Taylor's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

DAVID WARREN BOYLES CASHIERS David Warren Boyles of Sapphire Valley Estates, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at his residence. Melton-Riddle Funeral Home will announce arrangements. WAYNE LEON CAUSBY VALDESE Wayne Leon Causby, 54, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997.

Services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sossoman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m.

LEWIS HARRY LONG FRANKLIN Lewis Harry Long, 69, of Hickory Gap Road, Franklin, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Bryant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. ASHEVILLE CITIZEN-TIMES LONNIE PAYNE WALLACE O. GUY MARSHALL Lonnie Payne, 42, of Marshall, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at Stony Brook Medical Center In New York after a short illness. A loving husband and devoted father, he will be missed by all.

A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was the son of Inis Randall Payne of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his father Boyd Payne. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was employed by Emmett Wilson Trucking. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Joyce Hudson Payne; three sons, John Wade Payne and Christopher Neil Payne of the home, Lance Cpl.

Robert Stephen Payne, currently stationed with the U.S.M.C. In Okinawa, Japan; mother, Inis Randall Payne of Marshall; three sisters, Barbara Wilde, Lila Cutshaw and Mary Gentry, all of Marshall; three brothers, Douglas Payne and Calvin Payne, both of Marshall, Leon Payne of Black Mountain; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Big Laurel Baptist Church of which he was a member. The Revs.

Harold Lewis, Arlan Bullman and J.A. Griffin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rice Cove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Madison Funeral Home.

At other times the family will be at the home, 229 Sprouse Town Road, Weaverville. Mr. Payne will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to service. Madison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. MYRTLE PERRY KINKEN CANTON Myrtle Perry Kinken, 86, of 5401 Indiana Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, Nov.

18, 1997, in Salemtowne Moravian Home. A native of Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Alexander and Glenn Everett Perry. She was a retired school teacher in Canton public schools. She was a former resident of Canton for 65 years, she was a graduate of Asheville Normal School. She was a member of Canton First Baptist Church.

Following retirement, she lived at Surfside Beach, S.C. for 20 years and had been a resident of Salemtowne Moravian Home for the past two years. She was the wife of Philip G. Kinken Sr. who died in 1996.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Kinken Johnson of Portsmouth, two sons, Philip G. Kinken Jr. of Winston-Salem and William P. Kinkey of Charlotte; two sisters, Glenn P. Dobbins of Ft.

Myers, Fla. and Lillian P. Freeman of Atlanta, a brother, Sexton D. Perry of Las Cruces, N.M.; seven grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m.

Thursday at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road with the Rev. C. Jack Caudill officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.

Shelton Street, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Frank and Willie Rhinehart Guy.

He began his career with International in 1950, where he initially was a production worker and progressed through the ranks of Supervisor of the Foam Division, Customer Service and Quality Control. At the time of his retirement, with 43 years of service, he was the Southeast Regional Sales Manager of International. In 1976 he received the Salesman of the Year Award from Day International in addition to other numerous corporate recognitions. He founded and co-chaired the Dayco Foam Division Retirees group. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and outdoorsman and was a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived his wife of 46 years, Marilyn Sorrells Guy; one son and wife, Randall O. Gail Guy of land Bethel; two daughters and their husbands, Vickie and Alan Hunter of Candler, Angie and Troy Leatherwood of Waynesville; two sisters, Ruth Leatherwood and I Mary Viola Sutton, both of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Conan O' Neal and Darbi Blythe Ford, both of Candler, Zachary O' Neal and Agatha Brooke Guy, both of Bethel and Erin Christine Ledford of Waynesville and several close nieces and nephews. At the time of his death, he was awaiting the birth of his first great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Rathbone; a brother, Wade Guy and two twin grandsons, Richard Shea and Chad Joseph Ford. Funeral services will be 2 p.m.

Thursday at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Fuquay officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville.

At other times, the family will be at the residence. Pallbearers will be members of Southeast Sales Region of Day International and special friends which are the following: Gary Wical, Mike Heffner, J.R. Marshall, Wayne Easley, J.C. 18, 1997, at Pardee Memorial Hospital following a brief bout with cancer. She was a native of Henderson County and had lived here most of her life. She was a daughter of Della Sexton Jackson and the late William Lee Sexton. She was preceded in death by one sister, Katherine Robinson and one brother, Clyde Sexton. She was employed by Century 21 Barnette and Coates as a real estate agent.

She was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was very active in the preschool department, where her love for children was evident. She was also a member of the adult choir. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and nana. In addition to her mother and stepfather, Della S. and Ray Jackson, she Is survived by her husband of 37 wonderful years, Ronald Stepp; a daughter, Rhonda S.

Holden; a son, Randall Lee and his wife Crystal C. Stepp; a granddaughter, Paige Nicole Hoiden, all of Hendersonville; a sister, Dorothy Holden of Homestead, a brother, Grady Lee Sexton of Harrisburg, eight nieces and three nephews. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Revs. Ron Fousek and David E.

Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Born In Rutherford County to the late Hicks and Nelle Early Hemphill, he was president and operator of Hemphill Tire inc. and a member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church.
