"Sheriff" Smith, 95, of in Haywood County, passed away Lillian Hamlin Age 92 Lillian T. Hamlin, 92 of 231 Foster Creek passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at her Thomas Cochran Age 82 Thomas Timothy Cochran, 82, formerly of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the home of his son in High Point. Mr. Cochran was born October 20, 1930 in Swain County.

He retired from the furni Billy Zimmerman Age 53 William "Billy" Paul Zimmerman, 53, of Marshall, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his home. Mr. Zimmerman was born May 11, 1960 in Greeneville, TN. He was an excellent welder, loved to farm and took great pride in his work. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Baxter and Ollie Keener Tran-tham. She was also preceded in death by her on Monday, July 22, 2013. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Rhoda Clark Smith and his parents Vicie Emmaline Russell Smith and Billie Smith. He is survived by his children, Ann Higginbotham (Jim) of Colum ture industry, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and former Pastor of Calvary's Cross Baptist Church in High Point, NC.

Mr. Payne was born April 5, 1933 in Wanda Lewis Roberts, 71 of 109 Springbrook Rd went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was the daughter of Anna Lee Lewis and the late Clarence Lewis.

Wanda is also preceded in death by a brother Talmadge Lewis. Wanda was a wife of 23 years, Pamela Clark Zimmerman; daughters, Ashley Anna Zimmerman (Donnie) of Marshall and Cassie Elizabeth McGinley (Ryan) of New York; son, William "Will" Paul Zimmerman, Jr. (Heather) of Marshall; sisters, Kathryn Zimmerman (Herbert Buckner) of Mars Hill, Teresa Z. Engle of Mount Joy, PA and Barbara Zimmerman of Marshall; brothers, Louie R. Zimmerman (Sandy) of Marshall, John Jacob "Jake" Zimmerman (Kathy) of Pisgah Forest and Robert Zimmerman (Erica Curtis) of Marshall; one grandson, Max Cooper McGinley of New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Adams was born January 26, 1936 in Madison County. Douglas proudly served in the US Navy, retired from the Pipe Fitters Union and was a welding teacher at AB 1957. "Squeak" spent the majority of his days farming, raising tobacco and cattle in Madison County. He had a love for hunting, especially coon hunting and a special love for plot hounds. On Friday nights, "Squeak" could be found down at the Depot.

He loved music, especially the song "Rocky Mr. Payne was loved by his family and friends and will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe M. and Myrtle Wild Payne; sisters, Helen Payne, Marie Payne Haskell and Evelyn Payne Henderson; and a brother, Joe Payne, Jr. Surviving are his son, Ray Scott Payne; a brother, Tillery Kirk Payne and his wife Margaret; nephews, Monty Payne and Tracy Henderson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 27 in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Honeycutt officiating. Surviving are his brothers, Alva Lunsford of Weaverville and Dedrick Lunsford of Leicester; sisters, Alma Buckner of Marshall and Imogene Sharpe of Leicester; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Lunsford of Cookeville, TN. Funeral services were held Monday, July 22 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with the Reverends Gary Fender, Ed Worley and Brian Buckner officiating.

Burial followed in North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Doug "Boots" was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew for the past six years. Mrs. Smathers was born March 29, 1930 in Madison County where she was an area resident all her life. Maroma was preceded in death Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam Era.

Gerald was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was a man who loved life so much, he struggled to live through numerous trials: war, operations, con I 24, 2013 at John r. jeever soiace Center after a short illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and a daughter of the late Vernie John by her parents, Gonie and Kelly Parton Reese; her two husbands, William Isham Rollins and Phillip Smathers; and a daughter, Vickie Rollins. Surviving are her daughter, Judy Williamson; sons, J.D.

Rollins (Vickie), Allen Rollins, Scott Rollins (Debbie) and Mark Smathers (Tammy); 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cecil Waldroup. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 30 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with Reverend Bud Marlor officiating.
